It was on a tour stop through Florence, Alabama in 2022 when Chrissi Poland decided she needed to return and make a record in Muscle Shoals. Stopping through Fame Studios to take the tour, being in the room where some of the greatest soul records were ever made, Chrissi experienced an emotional and visceral reaction.

Forever Muscle Shoals is a full-length album that celebrates the songs and sound recorded in Muscles Shoals, AL in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Recorded live at Fame Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Chrissi has brought her vocal power and interpretation to songs from Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Cher, Bob Dylan and more.

“Returning to The Shoals to honor the music and artistry that shaped me, to be part of a new era of recording that’s happening in this sacred geographical corner of American music, is nothing short of a dream come true. I could feel the vibrations of Aretha and Etta in the room. I could visualize the moment Spooner Oldham played the famed opening riff to ‘I Never Loved A Man’ on that gorgeous Wurlitzer. So many of these songs shaped my brain, heart and soul as a singer, a writer. Above all, the feeling is what I connect to most deeply. Soul music isn’t just a genre, but more so an experience of human emotion. It demands that you be raw, real and connected. That’s why I’ve always been called to it.”
